U.N.I Living the Dream

Image
I remember years ago when I was up late with Brian Americus talking about U.N.I. We talked about having Christian artists rocking our clothes on TV. Here we are years later and look what God did. Big up to William "The Ambassador" Branch for showing support and rocking the U.N. Eye design. This is a pretty heavy interview because he and his wife went through a critical struggle in their marriage. I don't want to take away the focus of how God has restored them but I'm glad that some good came out of it--for them and for the U.N.I brand. #BOOM Also Mr. 129 himself--Royalty just released the video for his next single Gotta Get It featuring Chris Ray. A few weeks ago I showed you all some footage but here is the final product. Look at this cat rocking the U.N.I Good Wood piece. Also look for a Cameo from Brian Americus! In Memory of Amy Winehouse

Image
The song "You Know I'm No Good" has been ringing in my head for the past hour. I woke up this morning to a facebook post saying R.I.P Amy Winehouse. Moments later every major news source confirmed the speculation. In her memory I've decided to post some performances and music videos. Of course I can't walk away without sharing my opinion but this to me is like some Heath Ledger/ Black Swan shit, excuse my french. Art imitates life or maybe the other way around. Let's think about it Heath Ledger takes on the role of the Joker in Batman and is found dead toward the end of shooting. Aaliyah plays the queen of vampires and dies in a plane crash. Then Amy Winehouse, although not an actress but incredibly gifted none the less is found dead in her apartment. Another young artist dies. I mean really think of all of the promising singers who were ahead of their time yet plauged by inner demons, bad relationships, and fame who died young. Donnie Hathaway, Elv

Rolling in the deep

I was never a Linkin Park fan but this goes to show that a good song can make the most skeptic listener start to like a band.

Slap you to sleep

I blogged about this video over a year ago and have been looking for the post ever since. I've come to the conclusion that I don't think I'll find it--well at least that's my cop out for wanting to spend my time doing something more productive than look for a blog post. Luckily, I found it on YouTube and decided to share the hilarity with you all. Check back for more coontastic jungle bunny fun when I feel in the mood. Follow Me: @jusflashgrdn

My Scores on Rate My Professor

I'm headed to Philly in the morning and I'm up applying to a position at UMD! I got the urge to see my rating on ratemyprofessor.com and here is the feedback that I got. This is further proof that I would have loved to have myself as an instructor. Since they said I was so easy, I'll definitely have to make sure I make things harder. HA HA HA Snitches! In all honesty, I appreciate the kind remarks. This just made my night. They like me. They really like me.

Why I Always Let My Class Out Early

Image
Maybe I should come up with more fancy titles so people will be interested in reading my posts. Ahhhh WHATEVER or as the kids in my former youth group say W/E. It's 12:32. On paper my class is supposed to get out at 1:40. We got out at noon. I feel guilty. Why? Because part of me feels as though the academic rigor of my class should be a lot higher. Why? Because at some point someone is going to monitor me and I don't want to come across as a B.S. professor. Why? Because I want a promotion and more money. So, I got into a conversation with another adjunct faculty that has been at NVCC for years. Side note: I haven't even been teaching for a year yet and I'm trying to move up the ladder as quickly as possible. Ugh. Honestly, I just want a job with benefits. Let me clarify because even porn stars have jobs with benefits. I want a full time job at a university that will offer benefits. There we go! Back to my conversation with the other adjunct, I told her about

People In My Life

I go from one extreme to the other when it comes to the people in my life and those I hold dear. As a professing extrovert, I get most of my energy from being around people. As I grow older, the more I cherish just a few close personal relationships and care less about people that are just around. I say so often that I'm good on friends, but it's moments where I can be fully me, laugh, joke, and express myself the way I feel that I really do cherish those people that can take part in that. Truth be told, I put on so much for my profession, for church, as an artist, as a model, and just as an individual who strives to be successful. No one ever told me that things had to be that way, it's just a thing that I do to protect myself and keep the wrong people from taking advantage of my patience. It's something I do, as a person, to feel people out to determine if they have my best interests at heart. All of this to say, I've enjoyed myself a lot lately. I mentioned

Spokes model Audition & U.N.I News

Image
So here is what is up: I thought I said good-bye to modeling but I auditioned for a potential spot as a spokes model for Fairfax Studio. Pretty much they use spokes models to fit the needs of their clients. I did, I said good bye to modeling but this opportunity I actually get to say something, which is the one thing I was missing. I don't think the audition went spectacular but I had fun. They couldn't get the teleprompter working so the boss man just asked me a bunch of questions. One of them, I rambled through until I could find an answer. Call it the gift of gab but being concise has never been my strong point. I'm interested in seeing what happens here. I could definitely use the extra $100 an hour. In other news team U.N.I is on the move as always. At the end of last month Royalty aka Mr. 129 shot the video for "Gotta Get It" featuring Mr. U.N.I himself Brian Americus, as well as our Good Wood NYC Peace.Life.Love chain.
