I eat the same things I've always eaten and my body reacts in ridiculous ways. I've had so many embarassing moments at this youth center with my flatulence--well they should be thought of as embarrasing--that I don't even bother to think about it anymore. I just let her rip. I have moments where the kids sitting next to me during a game scream out "Eww who cut the cheese," happen at least twice a week. Cunningly, I ask the same question and nonchalantly shrug it off until that one bold child says"I think it was Mr. Gordon." I slyly turn the tables on that individual and get the kids to rally around me as I accuse the bold child of cutting the cheese. It really must be a cold day in Hell because I came to work mad early. Have you ever been in a place where you put 100% effort just to realize you get the same result as you did when you put out 0? Yeah, it's a sad phenomenon, but it happens. I've always been able to maintain my save the world, buck the system, social justice mentality, which I must say I have never lost. However, life has a way of bringing you back to reality to understand that at the end of the day some mad unfair and stupid stuff happens to individuals that hold the best intentions and strong ambitions for life. I had a really good weekend. I went down to Blacksburg to visit my alma mater for Black Alumni Weekend. I graduated last May with my Masters, which I took on straight from undergrad. So after spending about 7 years in the area, I didn't think enough time went by for me to want to come back and visit. So today I made a kid cry. Not intentionally though. I'm not even sure if the other staff was aware of what happened but here goes. One of the kids fell out of a tree the evening before and suffered a fractured left rib and a severe gash on his arm on the same side. I knew this but I completely forgot around the time I made the mistake I'm currently explaining. This is one of the kids that I joke around with a lot. So after a serious clown session during an activity, I started beat boxing a Barney Song. Three other kids, including the one I made cry, joined in with very little beat boxing skill. They were spitting more than beat boxing. So the kid I made cry is beat boxing away and he spits on me. We are all joking, so it is all in good fun. I tell him that he's spitting not beat boxing. After a long day at work, I pulled up the strength to complete a job application online for a government job. I was finished but I was 1 minute shy of meeting the deadline. The application didn't go through. I'm pissed baby. I could have been asleep two and a half hours ago.
