I'm Teaching Law

Image
Seriously, I'm teaching law for the next two weeks. I took on a gig as a Faculty Advisor for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law & CSI . My job is to lead about 20-25 students through various discussions on law careers and topics, a mock trial and Supreme Court hearing simulation, and other duties related to these matters. I'm on day 2 and this mug is crazy. I'm up at 7 for morning meetings with 18 other faculty advisors from all over the country, and I'm running all over the place until about 11 p.m., at which time I'm performing security checks. All I can say is that the schedule is crazy, but I am learning a lot about a career in law. I'm actually glad I got this opportunity because I've been contemplating how I would fit as a lawyer. I'm burnt out on school for now so I'm not looking to jump into the opportunity to pay thousands of dollars of debt just to go through it again. My plan is to pursue music but the legal knowledge will com

Have The Balls To Change

Image
I get random thoughts that lead to other thoughts that bring me to good ideas or remind me of something I know. Below is a poem that was the intro for Joss Stone's most recent album. The whole album bangs, but this intro really speaks to what I've recently come to understand more fully. At the end of the day, I am responsible for the change I want and it starts with me changing me. Hope you get inspired: You see I know change I see change I embody change All we do is change Yeah, I know change We are born to change We sometimes regard it as a metaphor That reflects the way things ought to be In fact change takes time It exceeds all expectations It requires both now and then See although the players change The song remains the same And the truth is You gotta have the balls to change P.S. For everyone that wants someone they love to change you may want to grasp this: only God can change someone. All you can do is support them.

Top 3 Funny For the Wrong Reasons

Disclaimer: I realize that freedom of speech has a price. I do not aim to be politically correct, nor does this reflect my lack of cultural sensitivity. I'm just being funny. If you cease to so much as chuckle or crack a smile at any of this then you are more than welcome to sue me, but don't expect much. I am not attempting to be professional because everyone at some time or another deserves to let his or her hair down. These just jokes fam. Now for me there are somethings that are funny for all the wrong reasons. They generally send a deeper message. No, I take that back. There is always a deeper message behind it. Now that I think about it, it is called satire. So here is a list of my top 3 videos that are funny for all the wrong reasons. Each of these videos had me cracking up or out right waving my hands because I got it. And each of these videos serve as social commentary for the realty that goes on around us that. Video #3, I just peeped it this week. Here goes Funny or

The Persuaders

I had lunch with a consultant that I look up to and we got into a conversation about marketing and creating a brand. He mentioned that I should take a look at a PBS special entitled The Persuaders. I just viewed 3 of the videos and the biggest thing that this is confirming to me is that there is a lot of bull behind marketing. What I'm saying is that the emotional focus of marketing is not always successful for the majority of products. A lot of the concepts in advertising maybe entertaining and may even be noteworthy but they do not sell the product. Let's remember, these concepts are successful for certain brands and not so for others. Everyone has a concept and a gimmic but how often do they work? Advertising and PR agencies are run by 6 holding companies. Long story short much of advertising is b.s. I say that with conviction with only 3 months of real advertising experience. The real issue is do marketers really sift through the information to find out what it really says

Statistics

Even though I left the concert when I heard him perform at B.B. King's last summer, this new song is alarmingly honest, creative, and when I find the the word I'll be sure to give it to you. Lyfe Jennings Statistics--enjoy.

The word of the day is . . .

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.” C.S. Lewis
