Are You The One?

In my mind, I think this is very uncommon for a man, but I been in close to 12 weddings since 2005. This time I got a little something extra out of it lol. I did a duet with one of my high school friends at a wedding for another friend from high school as she walked down the aisle. I figured that I'll share that wil you all. In the words of my former professor Dr. Jim A. Kuypers. Love me, hate me, hell you can even laugh at me just don't ignore me.

About Writing

The thing about being a writer is that you always have to have something good to talk about for the sake of your audience. That's a lot of pressure. I'll just amuse you about my weekend that consisted of a trip Charlotte that I almost could not afford, crab legs, a cook out with old friends plus burnt wings and burgers, a discussion about the illuminati, UNC coming close but not close enough to beating LSU, a wedding in ATL that I almost missed because I got lost, and VT disappointing me so much that I can't bear to talk about. Since this is my blog I'll run down the list. I went to Atlanta this past weekend for a wedding. Now this was a big weekend. Not for him but for the Hokies who were playing Boise State at Fed Ex Field for the opening game on Labor Day. I completely lost track of the dates, so while all the Hokies were heading to DC for Monday night's game, I was heading in the opposite direction to ATL for a Sunday night wedding. I'll go on and add the co...

Shout Outs

There always comes a time in my blog when I celebrete the many creative people in my circle by mentioning some of the projects they have going on. These individuals inspire me to work even harder in my personal endeavors and so I must needs to tell their business to any and everybody else that can possibly support them. First on my list is a producer in the DMV that goes by the name of Marcus "DaFingaz" Manderson who is the founder of an entertainment enterprise named Top Notch Productionz . Big up to my dude for winning a remix competition on Cypher Lounge Radio . It's not too late to listen to and vote for his latest Xzibit remix . Follow this link and submit your e-mail address to boost him up to 1st place. The next person on my list is an author, poet, mother, wife, mentor, activist, etc. who I have had the opportunity to work with in collaboration with U.N.I Clothing Co . She goes by the name Profound Thought and you can hear her thoughts in her personal journa...

For Your Entertainment

Image
I was going through my e-mails and found some material by friends I know in the entertainment business. I respect their hustle so much. What is awesome is that I know them as real people. Allow me to introduce you to The Southern Gentleman DJ 2 Much from Fredericksburg 99.3 The Vibe . I remember about a year ago when we talked about his hustle to try to get on the radio. I'm mad proud of him. Check out his current mix . This station is just a start and definitely not an end. Here's him doing a little spoken word at Busboys & Poets. I've plugged this guy previous times and he's back with another single entitled "Eternally Yours." It's pretty sweet so check it out . Be on the look out for upcoming projects . Keyword: iamsoul . Last, but certainly not least I got to shoot the breeze with my boy Sam Ski the other night. He's an up and coming producer that has worked with artist in from DC to New York to LA. All I can say is that this guy is the futu...

Welcome 2010

I could have partied for New Year's Eve. I could have spent it in a big city and made it an unforgettable experience, but unforgettable experiences can take place even in the quietest of atmospheres. What I mean is that the best experiences happen when you are with people who are good to you and for you. Opting for that over acting out like I never acted before, I decided to head to my old stomping grounds in ROANOKE,VA!! My NYE was unforgettable but one of those experiences that are unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. Either way I got to spend time with some people that I grew close with over the years. When I took on the summer job in New York, I never really got to say good bye. It was one of those things where I had to up and leave because of timing. So 2010 is here and I'm excited because I feel more freer than before. The down time witout a job has allowed me to get more in tune with what I want out of life. I don't just want a job I want to make a significant co...

Old Friends

Today I spent the day with a good friend from high school. Actually I had a crush on her back in the day. Take a look at her and you will definitely be able to tell why, but that's not the point I'm trying to make. My sister who just graduated from high school told me that she heard that your high school years are supposed to be the best years of your life. I was definitely there to disappoint her. Lol. I let her know, not in these exact words but, high school is the best years of your life for those that don't grow. Life goes so much further than the ages of 15-18 and if those are your best years, then that is very sad. On another hand, I look back at my high school days and I have grown tremendously since then. I'm not exactly the same person, but I'm thankful for the friends, the true friends that grew up with me after that time. So back to my story of my former crush in high school, the fact that we can still get together after some odd years and clown like we u...

Packed and Ready

I'm just about packed and ready to go. Ready to go home to Stafford,VA that is. I fly out of Reagan Airport on Saturday afternoon. No I haven't done all I could do to prepare to move. It looks like I may be paying extra to keep my stuff in the apartment for a few extra days. Let's not talk about how much I've paid so far. Two rents considering I won't even be in town. I plan to forget about it all when I get to Nassau. I'll be home tommorrow afternoon. Fourth of July is my big reunion with some high school friends. It's crazy how I'm still cool with quite a bit of folk I went to school with. It is refreshing to go home but then again I can only enjoy myself so far. People grow and people change. I've definitely done that, but it is still good to get up with people that know a certain side of me. I'm looking forward to seeing AJ & Miya Brown. Miya was a friend since middle school. She got married two years ago. . . yeah two summers ago. Her fa...
